As promised, I am going to explain why list building is so important. The number one reason is that the most common application of the web is sending emails to each other. So to miss that would be like not getting on the boat before sailing. You would have paid for the ticket, but missed the boat.

The second reason is that if you have as much as a 25% conversion rate (and that is MASSIVE by the way) then what could we offer the other 75% who decide not to buy? We could offer them help, advice, the chance to win the product being offered, a discount on related product (see AmazonFrequently Bought Together offer). There are a ton of things that you could offer them now and again, in the future.

We know a lot about list building and all aspects of your business can be tuned to build a list. As Carrie explains in the video, she has grown her business in very quick time focussing on Social Media list building. We recommend using Twitter to test headlines and devise offers – like a litmus on the market – you can test and try for free. Pay Per Click works similarly, it is very quick, but not free. You can spend even more time working on SEO, but that is not fast.

You can see why we like using Twitter as it is fast and free. Facebook offers another set of opportunities as does YouTube and Linkedin. I mention all four, as they are the big four in Social Media. Cross Media Optimisation uses all of those plus Email, Pay Per Click and SEO with Google, Bing and Yahoo.

Using Twitter you can prove an idea quickly. With Social Media and Search you can expand your list using additional tried and tested systems. Integrating Email and Blogs as the medium for communication is simple to do. You can use your main site or a simple blog as a ‘landing’ or a ‘squeeze’ page. There are additional techniques like sandwich pages. There is so much more!

The smart application of automated Cross Media Optimisation techniques builds lists of interested people to generat customers. I hope you can see the sense of it all now. All these pieces are essential elements to have at your disposal when you spot an opportunity, essential when you want an ongoing and reliable business that continues giving 24/7 day and night, every day of the week.

Once people are on your list they are either going to buy from you, recommend you, buy someone else or recommend someone else. Knowing their email address and the fact they are interested, and importantly with permission, you can influence the outcome. Now, lets say that they buy elsewhere and they are not satisfied, or still open to offers, or, heaven forbid that they buy nothing. With their email address you can let them know of events, special offers and related opportunities. Meanwhile you benefit in two ways, you gain more business and you have a lot more people – who have expressed an interest – that you could do business with. Your list becomes a business asset that should be reflected on your balance sheet.

Our suggestion is that you attempt to build a relationship with each individual. Building relationships has to be your first objective in order to ensure that you don’t come over all ‘salesy’. If people want to buy, they will find a way. There is no reason your emails can’t include a buy now button or a link to your sales page. By ensuring that you focus on building relationships you will enhance market perception. This is true if the person signed up in order to buy later, short list or recommend you to others.

In fact the more you know about the people on your list the more you will know about your market and for us and existing clients this had led to a number of new products and services being developed – based on demand.

I hope you enjoyed learning more about Cross Media Optimisation. I would love to hear of your experiences, please email me or leave a comment in the box below.

The simple art of business development online

As you have come to expect if you know me, I have a lot more to give than a simple plan. Although I have done my best to keep the plan simple, I have lots lined up for you….

Everyone recognises the first thing that you need in marketing is a good list. So the smartest thing you can do is to start list building. We advise this especially when you need to sell more product or service, for business or consumer markets. The reason – we have tested, and as you read on you will see it is simple common sense.

If you try and sell stuff to everyone you meet, then you are not only not going to make a lot of friends, but you are also going to ensure that you blow your reputation too.

Cross Media Optimisation is where you combine a range of technologies to ensure that you capture the most out of each and every opportunity. A little bit of this, a little bit of that, or a lot of each… Whatever the quantity, we have seen results uplift generally by at least 40%, we cannot gaurantee that as each scenario is different. We have seen greater and lesser outcomes. It comes down to effective integration and how much each element costs. So we suggest that you test first and build out based on specifically acquired knowledge.

It is well known in marketing circles that the more your prospects see you, the more results you will achieve.

This is why media barons own the radio, the TV station, local newspapers and cinemas, so that they can sell advertising that influences the population.

Cross Media Optimisation is similar but we are no media baron! We simply know how SEOSearch Engine Optimization, PPCPay Per Click, Social Media, Email, CRMCustomer Relationship Management, Payment Processing and so many more work together.

Now there are a lot of situations where making a sale is absolutely the right thing to do. For instance some key words sre extremely targeted to buyers not browsers. These tend to be very competitive, often marginal and often expsnive. For instance ‘Car Insurance for London’ what you see here is a keyword with a geographic modifier, just like ‘Sony – KDL-40W5810′ is keyword followed by a part number, the likelyhood is that someone is looking to buy something when they search on that term. Sure if you have an offer to make and an order to take, then is the time to make it.

But, we know form our 14+ years experience in search that when push comes to shove, the majority of visitors will not buy from you. Even really good conversion rates of 25% still leave 75% on the table. This is where Cross Media Optimisation kicks in.
