As promised, I am going to explain why list building is so important. The number one reason is that the most common application of the web is sending emails to each other. So to miss that would be like not getting on the boat before sailing. You would have paid for the ticket, but missed the boat.
The second reason is that if you have as much as a 25% conversion rate (and that is MASSIVE by the way) then what could we offer the other 75% who decide not to buy? We could offer them help, advice, the chance to win the product being offered, a discount on related product (see AmazonFrequently Bought Together offer). There are a ton of things that you could offer them now and again, in the future.
We know a lot about list building and all aspects of your business can be tuned to build a list. As Carrie explains in the video, she has grown her business in very quick time focussing on Social Media list building. We recommend using Twitter to test headlines and devise offers – like a litmus on the market – you can test and try for free. Pay Per Click works similarly, it is very quick, but not free. You can spend even more time working on SEO, but that is not fast.
You can see why we like using Twitter as it is fast and free. Facebook offers another set of opportunities as does YouTube and Linkedin. I mention all four, as they are the big four in Social Media. Cross Media Optimisation uses all of those plus Email, Pay Per Click and SEO with Google, Bing and Yahoo.
Using Twitter you can prove an idea quickly. With Social Media and Search you can expand your list using additional tried and tested systems. Integrating Email and Blogs as the medium for communication is simple to do. You can use your main site or a simple blog as a ‘landing’ or a ’squeeze’ page. There are additional techniques like sandwich pages. There is so much more!
The smart application of automated Cross Media Optimisation techniques builds lists of interested people to generat customers. I hope you can see the sense of it all now. All these pieces are essential elements to have at your disposal when you spot an opportunity, essential when you want an ongoing and reliable business that continues giving 24/7 day and night, every day of the week.
Once people are on your list they are either going to buy from you, recommend you, buy someone else or recommend someone else. Knowing their email address and the fact they are interested, and importantly with permission, you can influence the outcome. Now, lets say that they buy elsewhere and they are not satisfied, or still open to offers, or, heaven forbid that they buy nothing. With their email address you can let them know of events, special offers and related opportunities. Meanwhile you benefit in two ways, you gain more business and you have a lot more people – who have expressed an interest – that you could do business with. Your list becomes a business asset that should be reflected on your balance sheet.
Our suggestion is that you attempt to build a relationship with each individual. Building relationships has to be your first objective in order to ensure that you don’t come over all ’salesy’. If people want to buy, they will find a way. There is no reason your emails can’t include a buy now button or a link to your sales page. By ensuring that you focus on building relationships you will enhance market perception. This is true if the person signed up in order to buy later, short list or recommend you to others.
In fact the more you know about the people on your list the more you will know about your market and for us and existing clients this had led to a number of new products and services being developed – based on demand.
